Introduction
Sanghwang fruiting-body extract standardized to at least 30% polysaccharides, in 60 plant-based capsules.
Short description
Our Sanghwang extract comes from the fruiting body and is standardized to at least 30% total polysaccharides. A jar contains 60 plant-based pullulan capsules made from tapioca, without HPMC.
Product description
Sanghwang: a traditional wood-inhabiting fungus
Sanghwang has a long history in Chinese and Korean mushroom traditions. The names Sanghuang and Sanghwang-beoseot refer to a group of related bracket fungi rather than always identifying a single biological species.
Growth and fruiting body
These fungi grow on hardwood trees, forming compact, hard, often perennial fruiting bodies. Certain species occur on mulberry trees, but the precise host depends on the fungal species and must not be generalized to every Sanghwang extract.
Why taxonomy matters
The name on our product is Phellinus linteus. In older publications this name was applied to materials now recognized as several related species. DNA-based taxonomy also recognizes species of Sanghuangporus. Findings about another species are not automatically findings about our extract.
Natural constituents
Related fungi contain polysaccharides, glucans, phenolic compounds, pigments and other metabolites. Their composition varies with species, raw material and processing. Our extract is standardized to at least 30% total polysaccharides. This does not establish a separate beta-glucan or phenolic-compound content.
From fruiting body to extract
We use the dense fruiting body. Hot-water extraction can release water-soluble polysaccharides; different techniques yield different fractions. The exact extraction ratio and process require batch documentation and cannot be inferred from the product name.
Capsules and quality
Each jar contains 60 capsules with a plant-based pullulan shell derived from organic tapioca, without HPMC. Raw materials are checked by an independent German laboratory before processing and are not irradiated during production.
Tradition and research
Researchers investigate compounds from Sanghwang-related species in laboratory and animal models. Results for isolated fractions or other species do not establish a therapeutic effect of these capsules in humans. Species identification and extract composition are essential when interpreting research.
Product information
60 plant-based capsules; at least 30% total polysaccharides; fruiting-body extract; pullulan from organic tapioca; no HPMC. Store in a cool, dry, dark place.
Composition
Pinyin
Sanghwang (Phellinus linteus) fruiting-body extract; plant-based pullulan (capsule shell).
Latin names
Phellinus linteus; pullulan.
Use
Take 2–3 capsules daily with water, preferably on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before or about 90 minutes after a meal. A personal regimen of 4–6 capsules should only be followed with individual professional advice.
Indications
Food supplement containing standardized Sanghwang fruiting-body extract; no established medical indication.
Contraindications
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients. Seek advice from a physician or pharmacist during pregnancy, breastfeeding, childhood, illness or medication use. Long-term safety of concentrated Sanghwang extracts is insufficiently studied. Keep away from children. Do not exceed the suggested daily intake; supplements do not replace a varied diet.
