Product description
Agarikon: the distinctive fungus of the larch
Agarikon, scientifically known as Laricifomes officinalis, is a perennial bracket fungus found on conifers, particularly larch trees. Mycological literature also uses the name Fomitopsis officinalis. It produces firm, sometimes large fruiting bodies that can remain on tree trunks for years.
A mushroom with a long history of use
Agarikon has a long history in European and Asian mushroom knowledge. Its characteristic fruiting body and bitter compounds made it a subject of older herbal and natural-history writings. This history alone does not demonstrate that an extract is suitable for treating diseases.
What does 30% polysaccharides mean?
Our Agarikon extract is standardised to at least 30% total polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are large carbohydrate molecules naturally present in many mushrooms. Standardisation sets a defined minimum content for this group of compounds. Total polysaccharides are not equivalent to a separately measured beta-glucan percentage.
Plant-based capsules without HPMC
We package our Agarikon extract in tapioca-derived pullulan capsules. Pullulan provides a plant-based alternative to gelatin capsules. We do not use HPMC for the capsule shell of this product.
Quality control and processing
We have our raw materials tested by an independent German laboratory before processing. They are not irradiated during production. We work with clear specifications for identity, composition and standardisation.
Use and storage
Take two capsules before bedtime with water. Follow the instructions on the product label. Store in a dry place, tightly closed and out of the reach of young children.
